For another successive year, employees at FCSB raised money for the American Cancer Society’s Daffodil Days Program. This program accepts donations that will support the awareness of the battle of cancer. In return for donations, employees received daffodils by the bunch, vase, or pot, with the option of an anonymous direct delivery to a cancer patient. First CornerStone Bank employees raised over $375 this year, and is proud to join the fight against this disease.

Not only was this the 10th consecutive year that First CornerStone Bank sponsored the Media 5 Mile Race, but this was also the first year we had 4 runners participating! Out of the 1,243 total runners, we are proud to announce that our 4 participants finished the race within the top 20% and 30%! For another consecutive year, First CornerStone Bank employees continued their participation the in Daffodil Days program. Daffodils are the first flower of Spring, and signify the symbol of hope for cancer patients throughout our community. Not only does the Daffodil Days Program raise funds for the American Cancer Society, it also continues to increase public awareness of one of the top health concerns of our country today. In return for their contribution, employees were given flowers by the bunch, by the vase, by the pot, and with a stuffed bear in order to share them with family and friends touched by cancer.
First CornerStone Bank employees are participating in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program again this year. As part of our sustained mission of supporting the local communities where our branches operate, First CornerStone found three opportunities to reach out to local supporters recently. Early in June, the Bank started out encouraging our customers to grow with us through a Spring Fling Flower event at the Ridley Branch. Then, the Bank not only sponsored, but also participated in, the annual Media 5 Mile Race, supporting the Media Community! Finally, the Phoenixville branch hosted a community day and miniature golf event that was free for the entire community. First CornerStone proudly opened its sixth branch location in Chadds Ford, PA. The branch is prominently located on the corner of Route 202 and Woodland Drive, just south of Route 1. The branch is led by Linda Evans-Stone, Vice President, who also manages the Bank’s successful Media office. The site features a full service branch, after hours depository and drive-thru service. First CornerStone Bank elects to continue its participation in the FDIC's Transaction Account Guarantee Program. Under this program, through December 31, 2010, all noninterest-bearing transaction accounts are fully guaranteed by the FDIC for the entire amount in the account. Coverage under the Transaction Account Guarantee Program is in addition to and separate from the coverage available under the FDIC's general deposit insurance rules.
First CornerStone Bank branches participated in the Greater Philadelphia Cares Winter Coat Drive Program this year. Each branch served as a collection site for “gently used” winter coats. A final collection of 44 donations were given to the Saint Vincent DePaul Society on January 18. Thank you to all employees and customers who helped to make Philadelphia a little warmer this winter!

First CornerStone Bank’s Phoenixville branch hosted a Community Day and 3 Year Anniversary event. The branch welcomed dozens of local residents of Phoenixville who made it out for an early afternoon of free miniature golf at Markie’s Miniature golf next door to the branch. There was even a drawing for a brand new IPod and several gift certificates to local businesses, as well as food and fun with the entire branch staff.

The days’ activities featured a live broadcast of Sportsradio 610 WIP’s Angelo Cataldi & the Morning Team Show, food and a large turnout of FCSB’s customer base. Robert Jara, President and CEO, was a guest on the radio show. Mr. Jara was able to talk about FCSB’s recent successes and the financial strength of community banks in the Delaware Valley.
